Still haven’t seen the blockbuster that is Barbie? After breaking out of movie land and into home theaters in September, Greta Gerwig’s record-breaking film is finally streaming online — and in American Sign Language.

Barbie is now streaming on Max and on other video-on-demand platforms that offer the Max channel, including DirecTV Stream (which offers Max free for the first two months), Hulu and Prime Video. The film is also available in an American Sign Language version featuring ASL performer Leila Hanaumi, and Max hosted a special community screening to celebrate the release on Dec. 14 with Margot Robbie (who plays Barbie) in collaboration with Tony-winning nonprofit, Deaf West Theatre, and advocacy organization, RespectAbility.

Barbie is also available on digital to rent for $5.99 or to buy for $19.99 on Amazon’s Prime Video and Apple TV. For those who want to own it on disc, Barbie is on sale for up to 71 percent off on DVD, Blu-ray and digital 4K UHD at Amazon.
The film follows Barbie and Ken (Ryan Gosling) as they step out of Barbie Land and into the real world. It also stars Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Dua Lipa, Ritu Arya, Michael Cera and Emerald Fennell as Mattel dolls in the flesh and America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt and Will Ferrell as humans, with Helen Mirren serving as narrator.

Long before Barbie premiered in July, it spawned countless fashion and beauty collaborations, and Airbnb brought back its Malibu DreamHouse (with a Kenergy makeover) to celebrate the movie.
The fashion world immediately embraced Barbiecore a year before the movie even landed in theaters, with designers including Valentino creating bold pink looks for its Fall/Winter 2022 Pink PP collection. During the Barbie press tour in Los Angeles, Sydney, Seoul, Mexico City and London, Gerwig and her stars sported their best beyond-Barbie Land looks on the pink carpet. On set, Robbie enacted a weekly “pink day” where she would collect fines (which were donated to charity) from those who failed to wear something in the film’s signature color.

When and Where to Stream Barbie Online
Available as of Dec. 15 on Max, Barbie is also available to stream on other on-demand video streaming platform subscriptions that offer the Max channel add-on, including DirecTV Stream (which offers Max free for the first two months), Hulu and Prime Video. Although Max does not offer a free trial, DirecTV offers Max for free for the first two months, allowing subscribers to watch Barbie for free during that period.
Barbie was released to buy for digital streaming in September on Amazon, Apple and other video-on-demand platforms. It’s currently available to rent for $5.99 or to buy for $19.99 on Prime Video and Apple TV, and up to 71 percent off on DVD and Blu-ray.
Subscribers of Amazon’s Prime or Prime Video services can watch Barbie by signing up for the Max channel, which costs $15.99 per month in addition to the subscription fees for Prime membership ($14.99 monthly or $139 annually) or the stand-alone Prime Video service ($8.99 monthly).
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav previously said in an Aug. 3 earnings call that the film will be put through the standard theatrical release window. “Take it through these windows of economics that have worked forever, and we think work extremely well, and then put it on Max,” he said. “When [Barbie] goes on Max, we think it will have a very good impact, and that will be in the fall.”
